The Transformative Power of Basic Education in Work-Based Training  

A Swiss-developed education model that links learning to real tasks and business needs is being utilized in Mozambique to address education gaps by equipping youth and adults with the foundational skills needed to thrive in the workforce. 

 

Helvetas has been active in Mozambique since 1979. We work alongside our government partners and local communities to improve water and sanitation infrastructure, support farming initiatives and provide vocational training opportunities.

Nicolas Cacciuttolo has worked in development cooperation for almost 30 years. He spent 18 years living in Madagascar before moving to Burundi, Uganda, Chad, Niger and finally Switzerland. As Helvetas’ Senior Advisor for Education, he’s committed to supporting education services from the village to the ministerial level, and is passionate about systemic approaches and people’s participation.
